Jerry Cowles family papers, 1842-1862.

This collection consists of papers concerning the family of Jerry Cowles. Included are an 1862 military posting; an 1850 Mississippi land deed for land on Natches Island in the Mississippi River from David C. Campbell of Baldwin County, Georgia, to the trustee for Sarah C. Cowles and Children of New York; and several personal accounting records. In September 1862, Jerry Cowles received a military pass signed by G.W. Lee permitting him to go to Mill Valley, Georgia, on government business. The collection also contains a bill of sale of furniture, from Bibb County, Georgia, and a clipping of a photograph of General Lee and his staff.
